Katie and her family have lived in Olathe for the past seven years. They chose this community to be their home because of the excellent public school district, the robust local economy and the big town amenities with a small town feel. Katie grew up on a hobby farm in rural northern Missouri. She learned hard work from an early age by working alongside her parents and siblings raising calves, horses, sheep, rabbits and Golden Retrievers. Upon graduating from high school, Katie turned her sights to Park University and graduated with honors, earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. After graduation, Katie took a job for several years traveling the country working in the oil industry. Her role focused on quality control and technical support. In 2017, Katie decided to make a career change in order to be home more with her son. She joined Edward Jones as a financial advisor. In this role, Katie gained valuable experience listening to her clients to make sure that their personal financial goals are always clearly defined, helping them to make proactive decisions to reach those goals.
Katie spends her spare time staying active with her partner Brandon and her 13 year old son, Quentin, doing cross-fit, hiking, visiting museums and hanging out at the dog park with her 3 dogs (Harry, Joe and BoJean). On rainy days, you’ll find her curled up with a good book and her pet cat Larry.
With an eye towards public service, Katie has always aspired to run for office. Leaders in our community approached her asking if she would consider running & after weighing the pros and cons carefully, Katie decided the time was right. She will make an excellent representative because she is a pragmatic listener and a consensus builder. Katie is ready to roll up her sleeves and work hard to represent House District 49 in Topeka.
